Used as a passenger ship during the Soviet period, the ship built by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) under the name Astor for Mauritius-based Marlan Corporation in 1987, the ship arrived in Aliaga. The ship, which visited Istanbul and Kusadasi ports in 1988 under the name of Fedor Dostoevskiy, took the name Astor in 1995 and worked under the German company Transocean Tours. The ship transferred to British firm Cruise and Maritime Voyages could not carry the Pandemic. With the bankruptcy of the British company, the ship was sold to the Aliaga ship dismantling facility by auction. The ship, which anchored from England on November 7, will stop at Aliağa in the coming days. “Being a pandemic, the cruise industry has suffered a great deal in world tourism. If these ships start to send passengers in the next year, many ships will be dismantled in Aliaga,” said Eren Budaklı, blog manager of Nautica Goods.
