The old name of the district is Yenihisar. Didim is a significantly developed district of Aydın. There are Muğla Province, Güllük Bay and Akbük Bay on the east side of the district, the Aegean Sea on the west side and south, Menderes River and Bafa Lake on the north side. It looks like a peninsula in this way. Didim ship harbors are important structures for the district. It contributes to the district in many ways. The surface area of ​​the district is 402 square kilometers. There are approximately 100 thousand people in the district. The district has 16 neighborhoods. Due to the Treaty of Lausanne signed in 1924, the exchanges from Thessaloniki became the new owner of Didim. The region experienced an important earthquake in 1955. The region, which is called the fortress among the people, was named Yenihisar because of the disaster houses built by the state after the earthquake.
