I have lived in Kusadasi since 1990 and I have come to Captain’s House which is located in the heart of many guests with its unique theme, friendly staff and unique tastes. I used the word guest because the owner Hasan Geldigül says that the customers who come to his company are not customers for him and his team, but their guests. When I sat down with Mr. Hasan and started talking about Captain’s House, I understood why this business was standing up for many years.
Founded in 1984 in Kusadasi sailing competitions, this business was founded by the late owner Demirhan Sadıkoğlu Bey. When Demirhan Bey came to Kuşadası Marina by boat, he met his friends and enjoyed his holiday. After a certain time, he established this restaurant and café for hobby purposes to entertain his guests and friends. In 1985, Captain’s House became operational and started to serve as a restaurant and café.
There is everything in the menu. Captain’s House has a rich menu ranging from seafood, meat products, vegetarian products to cafe-style products. In the meantime, while some of the customers eat, the other part can only drink coffee. The property can also be booked on special occasions. Therefore, this business is preferred by many customers, while many people come to Kusadasi upon recommendation, Captain’s House. According to Mr. Hasan, tourists coming to Kusadasi for fourteen days to spend their holiday spend at least ten days at Captain’s House. Fifty percent of customers in the summer were foreign tourists. Hasan has two recommendations for good business management: honest and right trade (right price policy).
Mr. Hasan also sees Captain’s House as a museum. There are hundreds of nautical themed paintings on the walls of the establishment, while the facility is equipped with maritime objects. Mr. Hasan employs 10 people and can accommodate between 500 and 1000 people daily. Ninety-five percent of incoming customers say they are repeat customers. I also notice that the important issue Mr. Hasan, an employee in the business. Mr. Hasan, who dresses like other employees and serves his customers like them, shows how important communication is in trade. While continuing our conversation, Mr. Hasan says that it is necessary to establish businesses in Kusadasi that will increase socialization. The museum, the cable car, the tropical garden of Kusadasi, which will provide added value and attract more tourists, says the establishment of businesses. At the end of our interview, Mr. Hasan recommends that the guests coming to Kusadasi should come to Captain’s House and at least meet with them and have a cup of tea.
